The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office has been named “Statewide Agency of the Year” by the Georgia Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), Sheriff Ted Paxton announced today.
This prestigious award is presented each year to a “Law enforcement agency that has demonstrated excellence in implementing innovative techniques in the detection and deterrence of traffic violations and DUI,” according to the award criteria.
In addition to numerous training programs provided an little or no charge to the public, sheriff’s deputies made 739 arrests during 2006, the Sheriff said.
Police agencies and Sheriffs’ Offices across Georgia participated in the competition for this award, the Sheriff added.
“We’re extremely proud of every deputy and every employee in the Sheriff’s Office who contributed to this award,” Sheriff Paxton said. “This honor and the 739 impaired drivers we removed from the roads last year proves that we’re taking the right approach to saving lives,” he added.
