Georgia Traffic Offenses

At some point in their life, most Georgia drivers will receive at least one speeding ticket. With all of the responsibilities we have and simply not enough time, it’s inevitable that we find ourselves speeding from time to time. For some drivers, traffic offenses are never a problem, but for others sometimes two, three or four tickets can start to cause some real problems. If you find yourself facing driving restrictions because of traffic offenses, contact the HTW&W Law Office right away. We’ll ensure that your driving privileges are protected.

The Point System

Every driver that holds a Georgia license is part of the point system. Each point on your license gets you one step closer to losing your privilege to drive. If you are over 21, you can only accumulate 15 points in a 24-month period. Going over your point limit will get you a 6-month license suspension.

With the help of a qualified defense attorney at HTW&W that specializes in traffic offense law, you may be able to receive a limited license if your license was suspended. For drivers under 21, you might want to consider hiring an attorney based on the severity of the traffic offense. Driving aggressively or speeding 30 miles per hour or more over the posted speed limit could be grounds to take away your license. Don’t let this happen to you!

If you were ticketed for only speeding up to 14 miles per hour over the speed limit or driving too fast for the conditions (ex: it was a blizzard), you will not receive a point on your license in Georgia. Drivers that are ticketed for violating a child safety restraint will receive 1 point on their license for a 1 st offense. You can get two points on your license for driving 15 to 18 miles per hour over the speed limit, having an open alcohol container or for failing to secure a load.

For anyone driving 34 miles per hour or more over the speed limit or for unlawfully passing a school bus, you can receive six points on your license.

Please contact HTW&W if you are facing serious traffic violations!
