Okaloosa County Spring Break '07 Arrest Numbers

Spring Break 2007 is officially over. Although the majority of visiting students were well- ehaved, there were the usual exceptions. Deputies with the Okaloosa Sheriff’s Office issued at least 141 notices-to-appear to underage drinkers.

Of that total, at least 63 high school students were cited; including eighteen from Louisiana, seven from Tennessee and six from Georgia.

The Sheriff’s Office logged nine arrests for retail theft, four for possession of marijuana, and five for possession of a controlled substance. Other charges filed against spring breakers ranged from DUI and aggravated battery to interfering with a fire extinguisher and carrying a concealed weapon.

A breakdown of the citations for underage drinking by state is as follows:

Louisiana 38

Alabama 20
Tennessee 13
Georgia 14
Kentucky 12
Locals 11
Arkansas 2
Ohio 2
Texas 2
One each from Indiana, Missouri, and Michigan.
